Plan a Multimodal Trip with Transit+

Transit+ is Transit's multimodal trip planner. It's designed to show you optimal transport options by combining public transport with other modes. Transit+ combines buses, rail and ferries with bikeshare, scooters, personal bikes, and ridehail services such as Uber, Lyft, and Via.

Here's what this article covers:

Plan a Multimodal Trip

Transit+ is an enhancement to the regular Transit trip planner. To see multimodal results, plan your trip as you would normally using the trip planner.

Transit+ currently suggests trips that combine ridehail, bikeshare, scooters, or personal bikes with bus, ferry, or rail (such as subway, commuter rail, or tram).

You'll see Transit+ trips suggested below public transport options in the trip planner results when our trip planner believes a multimodal option can save you time on your journey:

The price listed next to each trip is the price for the ridehail portion only. It does not take into account the public transport fare.

Transit+ is still in beta. Please contact us if you see any weird results!

Request a ride with Transit+

Once you have selected your trip, tap Request to order your ride directly from the trip details screen.

Note: Your ride is only ordered once you tap the Request button and confirm your pickup location.

If ridehail is the last leg of your journey, we suggest ordering your ride a few minutes before arriving at the transfer point, or once you exit public transport. If you order too early, you may be charged while the driver waits to pick you up.

You can read more about our ridehail integrations here:  Order a Lyft, Uber, Via, or Ola Ride

Unlock a Bikeshare Bike with Transit+

Once you have selected your trip, tap Unlock a bike to get an unlock code directly from the trip details screen.

You can read more about our bikeshare integration here: Unlock a Bikeshare Bike

Disable Transit+

Transit+ can be disabled by completely disabling the ridehail, personal bike, scooter and/or bikeshare modes in the options menu:

  • In the top left-hand corner of the screen, tap the gear icon:
  • At the top of the screen, tap the middle slider icon
  • In the Options menu, tap the arrow to expand modes to show different services.
  • Tap the circle next to any services you don't want to use to disable them. You'll know they are disabled when the green checkmark becomes a gray circle. Disabled services will not be displayed in the list of nearby options and will not be considered in the trip planner.
