Plan a Multimodal Trip with Transit+

Transit+ is Transit's multimodal trip planner. It's designed to show you optimal transport options by combining public transport with other modes. Transit+ combines buses, rail and ferries with bikeshare, scooters, personal bikes, and ridehail services.

Here's what this article covers:

Plan a Multimodal Trip

Transit+ is an enhancement to the regular Transit trip planner. To see trip plans with multiple modes recommended, plan your trip as you would normally using the trip planner.

Transit+ currently suggests trips that combine ridehail, bikeshare, scooters, or personal bikes with bus, ferry, or rail (such as subway, commuter rail, or tram). In certain cities, Transit+ will suggest trips that combine on-demand services and a bus.

You'll see Transit+ trips suggested below public transport options in the trip planner results when our trip planner believes a multimodal option can save you time on your journey.

Note: GO is not available for multimodal trips in Transit.

Unlock a Bikeshare Bike

Once you have selected your trip, tap " Unlock a bike" and follow the instructions from the trip details screen.

You can read more about our bikeshare integration here: Unlock a Bikeshare Bike

Request a ride

Once you have selected your trip, tap " Request" to order your ride directly from the trip details screen.

Note: Your ride is only ordered once you tap the "Request" button and confirm your pickup location.

If ridehail is the last leg of your journey, we suggest ordering your ride a few minutes before arriving at the transfer point, or once you exit public transport. If you order too early, you may be charged while the driver waits to pick you up.

You can read more about our ridehail integrations here: Order Ridehail Services

Disable Transit+

Transit+ can be disabled by completely disabling the ridehail, personal bike, scooter and/or bikeshare modes in the settings.

  • Tap the gear icon at the top left of the main screen.
  • At the top of the settings screen, tap the middle slider icon.
  • In the options menu, tap the arrow to expand modes to show different services.
  • Tap the circle next to any services you don't want to use to disable them. Disabled services will not be displayed in the list of nearby options and will not be considered in the trip planner.
