Order Ridehail Services

Transit is about more than just bus times- you can also use the app for other forms of transportation: bikeshare, scooters, carshare and ridehail! See ridehail options nearby to quickly see how far away a driver is, or use the trip planner to compare all your options. Then book your ride right from within the app.

Pro tip: Our multimodal trip planner, Transit+, can help you find trips that combine ridehail with public transport and get you to your destination as quickly as possible.

Here's what this article covers:

Order a Ride

Order a ride from the main screen

  • Find the ridehail card in the Nearby list:
  • Note: If you’re in Europe, this will look a bit different — all the options will be shown on the same card.
  • Swipe to see the available ridehail options and approximate wait times for each service.
  • Tap the card showing the ridehail options.
  • If you have favorites saved, the app will predict where you're going and plan your trip. You can then modify the trip. Depending on which ridehail service you're using, the next steps will differ slightly.

  • Riding with Uber or Lyft? You'll be able to book and follow your ride right from inside the app! Make sure you select a destination before tapping Request [Operator].

Once you've requested your ride, you can message your driver from the screen or even change the drop-off location!

You can also minimize the ridehail trip in the same way you would minimize GO to explore other transit options:

    • If you are on Android, tap your phone's back button.
    • If you are on iPhone, swipe down from the top of the screen.

Warning: You can also cancel a trip from this screen by tapping the X in the top-left corner of the ridehail screen. Cancellation fees may apply.

Riding with VIA, Ola, Riide, Heetch, Kapten? No need to set a destination - when you tap Request [Operator], you'll be directed to the ridehail app where you can book your ride.

Order a ride from the Trip Planner

  • Plan a trip and locate the ridehail option in the trip planner:
  • Tap the trip to choose your ride.
  • Tap Request [Operator].
  • Sign In to Your Account

When you request your first ride through Transit with an operator, you'll be prompted to sign in or create a ridehail account.

You can also sign in or out from the settings:

  • In the top left-hand corner of the screen, tap the gear icon:
  • In the section labeled Available Services, tap Sign In next to the service you want to use.
  • Follow the steps to connect your account.
  • Pay For a Ride

When you confirm your pickup location, tap the credit card icon to choose your preferred payment option.

Your receipt will be emailed to you after your trip.

If you have any questions about the charges or any issues with your account, contact the ridehail service's customer service department directly. They're better placed to help you out.
